We’ll be back after a word from our sponsors.

November 23, 2009

Hi Ladies and Gents,

We here at the Saturday Illustrations team have taken some time off from the blog due to the responsibilities of professional life creeping up and taking over too great a chunk of our time to allow the necessary dedication to this site that it deserves. At this time, we are sad to report that the Saturday Illustrations team will not be posting any more topics or illustrations and there is no deadline set for when we might pick back up again. When or if we return to business as usual around here, you’ll be the first to know.

Thanks so much for supporting the site and stopping by to look at what we do here.We appreciate it and maybe we’ll see you around again some day soon. 🙂

❤ The Saturday Illustrations team

xoxo

73-year-old internet hit whips twitter into shape.

September 6, 2009

Twitter+elderly=gold. We all have at least one “Sam” in our family…a father, uncle, grandfather whose profanity-ridden, smart ass quips leave us in tears (whether the good, bad, or the ugly). So here’s to you, Sam, and your twitter gems.

For this week’s topic, I wanted to make an illustration that doesn’t have human or animals. I hope I came up with a clear and clever solution.

Big Trouble.

Ugh, perspective. I used the line art from a really old illustration I did and then tried to match it up with the angle of the monitor & re-drew it when it looked sort-of alright.

I’m trying to use purple a lot now. It’s a neglected color in my illustrations. I also think using myself/my surroundings as reference will never get old. I actually was one of those girls who used to flip out about stuff on Facebook – so it’s appropriate that my old laptop is honored in this illustration.

PS. This is the third illustration my dead laptop has appeared in!

(We should make a Facebook page for him.)

Status: Saturday Illustrations is green with envy!

As we all know, the internet is serious business. Sometimes the business you do on your facebook, twitter, or the social networking medium of your choosing can affect your life outside of the interwebs. You’ve been warned!

Who’s that girl? Facebook entries stir jealousy

Which tool to use?

Sorry for the late late late post! This took forever. I kept experimenting with lines, colors, and textures and kind of got lost. I’m not too happy with this… I feel like this is not “me” because of the lines… But I hope I at least got the general feel of the article in this illustration.

Knife

Knife, originally uploaded by Thomas.A.Boucher.

I’m not a big fan of these colors. I have been messing with them all morning, but I am out of town and don’t have much longer to work on this. This was the best I could come up with for now.
I wish I could have gotten a little deeper with the concept, but I couldn’t get past a concept that Nicholas Dewar has used. It was a jackknife with hands and heads instead of tools. That would have fit perfectly, but he has already used that idea.

Any ways, I guess you can be both…

Everyone’s a Tool

I think that I’m more of a jackknife. I’ve wanted to use this topic for a while, but I ran into a few other ones I wanted to use, and then I had to wait my turn. Without further ado
