Father Twitter
September 12, 2009 by saturdayillustrations73-year-old internet hit whips twitter into shape.
September 6, 2009 by saturdayillustrationsTwitter+elderly=gold. We all have at least one “Sam” in our family…a father, uncle, grandfather whose profanity-ridden, smart ass quips leave us in tears (whether the good, bad, or the ugly). So here’s to you, Sam, and your twitter gems.

Ugh, perspective. I used the line art from a really old illustration I did and then tried to match it up with the angle of the monitor & re-drew it when it looked sort-of alright.
I’m trying to use purple a lot now. It’s a neglected color in my illustrations. I also think using myself/my surroundings as reference will never get old. I actually was one of those girls who used to flip out about stuff on Facebook – so it’s appropriate that my old laptop is honored in this illustration.
PS. This is the third illustration my dead laptop has appeared in!
(We should make a Facebook page for him.)

Which tool to use?
August 16, 2009 by saturdayillustrationsSorry for the late late late post! This took forever. I kept experimenting with lines, colors, and textures and kind of got lost. I’m not too happy with this… I feel like this is not “me” because of the lines… But I hope I at least got the general feel of the article in this illustration.

I’m not a big fan of these colors. I have been messing with them all morning, but I am out of town and don’t have much longer to work on this. This was the best I could come up with for now.
I wish I could have gotten a little deeper with the concept, but I couldn’t get past a concept that Nicholas Dewar has used. It was a jackknife with hands and heads instead of tools. That would have fit perfectly, but he has already used that idea.
Any ways, I guess you can be both…

Everyone’s a Tool
August 8, 2009 by saturdayillustrationsI think that I’m more of a jackknife. I’ve wanted to use this topic for a while, but I ran into a few other ones I wanted to use, and then I had to wait my turn. Without further ado
